TikTok's Decisive Action: 284 Accounts Tied to Chinese Group Removed

In a recent development, TikTok has come under scrutiny as Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, took action against a Chinese political spam network targeting users in Australia and beyond. Meta’s investigation uncovered nearly 9,000 groups, pages, and accounts associated with this network, spread across various platforms, including TikTok. This disinformation effort primarily focused on criticizing US and Western foreign policy, along with supporting the Chinese government. Guardian Australia raised concerns about TikTok’s involvement, particularly regarding videos related to accusations of forced labor in Taiwan and Xinjiang.
